A Totally Different Mage in 10 Days
If you can remember, not even 3hrs after hit the Wrath of the Lich King level cap of 80, I was already thrown into the world of raiding again, and had already started picking new gear. Pretty much every 25 man raid I attended this last almost two weeks, I’ve picked up a new piece of gear. Now my Mage looks so different I could barely recognize her. Prior to hitting 80, she had only a few upgrades within the last 5 months. Now shes has gotten one or two every two to three days.
Here is a look at my Mage the day she hit 80. Only one piece of gear had been replaced, and all the stats had taken a big hit except Spell Power. Even that stat was now considered low. I went from Spell Hit capped, to only 9% Spell Hit. My Frostbolts went from a 2.02 second cast, to a 2.23 second cast. My Spell Critical Strike Rating dropped 10%.
10 days later, I’ve replaced all but 2 pieces of gear. First stat I concentrated on was Spell Hit, which I am now 99% by myself. Being in a group with a Draenei will put me at the Hit cap, but I carry Hit Rating food just in case there isn’t a Draenei, Shadow Priest and Moonkin in the Raid. I haven’t had the need to use it yet, but it helps to be prepared. My Spell Power also jumped 400 points, and my Spell Critical Strike went up almost 5%. I’ve been neglecting Haste, and I won’t start gearing and gemming for it until my Spell Critical Strike is at least 25% self buffed.
Usually if a vendor received this many epics in such a short time, he would have alerted the WoW Police, cause this guy is getting hacked! This was the painful to do, but it had to be done. I am usually a pack rat when it comes to gears and trinkets, but my bag and bank space were at an all time low. I still kept all my tier gear, but got rid of some others. Plus I was getting super broke with gemming and enchanting all my new gear.
Now my Mage has all these new toys to play with. There was originally a single post for each day I got new gear, but you would have been bored of me by then. Here is a list of them from head (well no new helm yet) to toe:
- [Necklace of Taldaram]
- [Mantle of Deceit]
- [Cape of Seething Stream]
- [The Sanctum's Flowing Vestments]
- [Plush Sash of Guzbah]
- [Valorous Frostfire Gloves]
- [Ring of the Traitor King]
- [Voodoo Signet]
- [Mercurial Alchemist Stone]
- [Sundial of the Exaulted]
- [Staff of Restraint]
- [Plague Igniter]
- [Leggings of the Wanton Spellcaster]
- [Cleric's Linen Shoes]
I went from “Not ready for Naxxramas” to “Ready for Ulduar Raid” according to WoW Heroes. Ulduar will be the next raiding instance to be added in a future update, and is located where Halls of Stone and Halls of Lightning is. The new instance will delve deeper into the Titan’s lore.
I sure hope you’re going to stay Frost! Because with some more crit, you may very well be tempted to get into Frostfire. And the Frost community just wouldn’t know what to do without you. I can’t hold the fort for that long, you know?
krizzlybears last blog post..Friday Five: What Dreams May Come
Oh I’ve been tempted since I was playing in the WotLK Beta, but I’ve been able to stay Frosty still. I just now recently got my 2 piece bonus for my Frostfire tier set. I don’t know if you could resist anymore if I were to get the 4 piece bonus…
Nooooooooo! I was starting to work on my mage again, now that my hunter has been going through heroics regularly and doesn’t need full attention anymore. I ding 69 and decide to check in with Tuna, since I have been away since the release….I go to the armory link and he’s specced fire!! Say it isn’t so….my frost mentor has gone to the dark side.
