Memorial Day

Memorial Day is a United States Federal Holiday observed on the last Monday of May (in 2008 on May 26). Formerly known as Decoration Day, it commemorates U.S. men and women who perished while in military service to their country.

First enacted to honor Union soldiers of the American Civil War, after World War I it was expanded to include casualties of any war or military action. – Wikipedia.com

We use this day to honor the men and women who serve for our country and to keep us safe. I have many friends and relatives who currently serve or have served in the millitary, and I thank them, and wish them well.

Many people, including myself, see this day as the unofficial beginning of Summer, and enjoy today with picnics and BBQs. Some people also use this day to open up their pools for the Summer.

I also think that picture of the squirrel is awesome. I want to have a whole army of them, and dressed them up like that.
