Unboxing of the Lord of the Rings LCG

Yay new toy! If you’re like me, you can’t wait to run home and and rip the wrapping off any new purchase. So after my adventure to Middle-Earth the other day, here is my new plaything. Only a few pictures though… I was too excited and ended up just ripping the thing open and punching out all the components.

As usual, Fantasy Flight Games gives you a big enough box to any future expansions and chapter packs. For now, it looks like I can just fit the core set, and maybe a few chapter packs down that center channel of the box. In the future if I’m running low on space, it looks like I can invert that insert cardboard, and have two channels to hold the cards. I would have liked it if FFG made their boxes to readily store cards though. Kind of like Dominion. But it is good enough for me.

Awesome, more tokens to store! /sarcasm. Progress tokens, damage tokens, and resource tokens, and two threat trackers. Not bad at all. The game won’t have too long of an initial set up. The cards were already separated with 4 different deck types: Spirit, Lore, Leadership, and Tactics. The core set also comes with 3 scenarios, along with its accompanying encounter cards. A good amount of cards. I have a lot of sleeving to do.

I have to crack open a new Plano Box to store my new tokens. This is the same storage box that I used for my Star Wars: X-Wing Miniatures. This storage box will have plenty of room to hold tokens and components from my other games as well.

I’m going to get a few games under my belt before I give a full review, so stay tuned for that. See you next time!
