Anime Series – Winter 2008
It has been awhile since I wrote about any Anime that I have been watching. Doesn’t mean I stopped watching! There is a couple of Anime that I picked up during the Winter 07 Season that I found to be really good and worth a view. Also I have listed are series that started last season that are still continuing this season, that I think you should go back and pick it up. Even further back, I have series that are already at 100+ episodes that you should have picked up already, and if you haven’t go find them and begin an anime watching marathon to catch up.
New Series:
True Tears revolves around a high school student named Shinichiro Nakagami with a high artistic ability. The story involves him and three females who develop feelings for him throughout the anime. One of them is a wierd mysterious girl who goes to the same school as him, another happens to be his bestfriend’s girlfriend, and the last girl is a childhood friend who ends up living with him and his family due to the death of her parents.
Shigofumi ~Stories of the Last Letter~ is about a girl named Fumika who works as a mail carrier to deliver Shigofumi, or “after death letters”. These letters are written by people after they die and are delivered to the person the letter is addressed to in the living world. The letters contain things that the now-deceased could not say while they were alive, such as things they wanted to say before they died, or even to inform others about who killed them in the case of a murder.
Persona -trinity soul- is the sequel to the PlayStation 2 game Persona 3, taking place ten years after its events. In the game, the main characters summon their Personas using a pistol-shaped device called an “Evoker” by aiming at their heads and pulling the trigger. Using their Personas, protect themselves and fight with them.
Last Season:
Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei revolves around a very pessimistic high school teacher named Nozomu Itoshiki who, at the very beginning of the series, tries to hang himself on a sakura tree. Despite this effort of self-destruction, he is saved by an extremely optimistic girl known only as Kafuka Fura (who in the process of saving him, nearly kills him). The series continues into its 2nd series as (Zoku) Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei.
Minami-ke is a slice of life comedy, that focuses on the everyday life of the three Minami sisters: Haruka, Kana, and Chiaki. This series is continuing its 2nd season as Minami-ke ~Okawari~.
Clannad TV is based off of a Playstation 2 dating simulation game which follows a third year high school student, Tomoya Okazaki, and focuses on the appeal of the five female main characters.
Still Going:
Bleach follows the adventures of Ichigo Kurosaki, a high school student with the ability to see ghosts, and Rukia Kuchiki, a shinigami or “death god”. The early parts of the story focus mainly on the characters. As events unfold, the story begins to delve deeper into the world of these gods of death. Bleach is currently on its 7th story arc, The Hueco Mundo, which is also where the manga is currently at.
Naruto is about Naruto Uzumaki, who is a loud, hyperactive, unpredictable adolescent ninja who constantly searches for recognition and aspires to become a Hokage, the ninja in the village acknowledged as the leader and the strongest of all. The first series ended with 220 episodes, and continues in the 2nd series, Naruto: Shippuden. Shippuden is currently at episode 46, and will end with episode 49, where Naruto will continue in its 3rd series.
One Piece focuses on a ragtag crew of heroic pirates called the Straw Hat Pirates, formed and led by a captain named Monkey D. Luffy. Luffy’s greatest ambition is to obtain the world’s ultimate treasure, One Piece, and become the Pirate King. One Piece is currently on their 5th Saga or 27th Story Arc, Thriller Bark at episodes 377+.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I has been awhile since I’ve written about anything non-wow related. With the patch notes for 2.4 out and people looking forward to the loots from Sunwell, it looks like people aren’t showing up for raids or coming up with excuses to not come. Which I could understand – I currently have no desire to do Mt. Hyjal anymore, and I only want to kill the first boss in Black Temple for my [Slippers of the Seacaller], and Illidan, cause it is a fun fight. That and he still has my [The Skull of Gul'dan]! /grrr
I had no idea Clannad is based off of a video game! It’s a great series so far and I can’t say I’ve been disappointed with it at anytime… Although I would like to know why Fuko keeps randomly showin up, haha.
Hehe yea, and the way they keep taking out the girls I want to “win” makes me want to find the game and play it.
About Fuko, when they ended her story I’ll have to admit, I was kinda sad. Now she is just annoying haha.
