As for me, I am still missing one thing to get the required achievement from the Hallow’s End event. I still need my [Sinister Squashling] for the “Hallowed Be Thy Name” achievement.

Once I get that, then finally, I will have the “What A Long, Strange Trip It’s Been” achievement. And with that, I will get my first 310% Speed Flying Mount: [Reins of the Violet Proto-Drake].

Hopefully you’ll see a “Yay I got my Violet Proto-Drake” post sometime in the near future. That or a “Damn you Blizzard! I hate you!” post when Hallow’s End is over. Til then- Happy Hunting!

Utada has her Halloween costume all ready!

Costume Consists of:

• [Hallowed Helm]
• [Shoulderpads of Knowledge's Pursuit]

• [Sandals of Summer] (to make you look like you are on fire)
• [Tempest of Chaos]
• [Bouquet of Ebon Roses] (to rain black pedals on yourself)

For this time consuming achievement, you are required to find and read eight rare book spawns located in Dalaran. The problem is, the spawn rates are random, and when they do spawn, they only stay up for a short period of time. Luckily, the spawn locations and the spawn rates are known. All that is left that you will need is a bit of luck, and a lot of time to spare.

The School of Arcane Magic – Introduction

This book is located in the Teleportation Crystal Room at the coordinates, (56.7, 46.1). It will be found on the floor next to the bookshelf.

The School of Arcane Magic – Conjuration

This book is located in the Violet Citadel at the coordinates, (30.9, 46.5). It will be found on the first bookshelf on the bottom shelf. The bookshelves are on the right side if you are entering the violet Citadel.

The Schools of Arcane Magic – Enchantment

This book is located on the second floor balcony of the Thread of Fate (cloth armor) shop, at the coordinates, (43.5, 46.9). You will find it on top of a small box which is located next to a bigger box.

The Schools of Arcane Magic – Necromancy

This book is located on the second floor of the Legerdemain Lodge in the room with the empty bookshelf. The coordinates are (46.9, 39.1). The book will spawn in the middle shelf of the room with four beds.

The Schools of Arcane Magic – Abjuration

This book is located in the Dalaran Visiting Center (tabard shop) at the coordinates (52.2, 55.2). You will find in on the floor next to a small table, two chairs and bookshelves.

The Schools of Arcane Magic – Divination

This book is located on the second floor of the Violet Citadel on the side with the Caverns of Time Portal at the coordinates, (26.5, 57.1). You will find the book on the floor between the two bookshelves.

The Schools of Arcane Magic – Illusion

This book is located at the Violet Hold next to Archmage Timear (normal dungeon daily) at the coordinates, (46.5, 52.8). You will find in on the box in the northern most corner.

The Schools of Arcane Magic – Transmutation

This book is located in the Legerdemain Lodge on the bottom floor at the coordinates, (46.9, 39.8). You will find the book on the empty bookshelf near the western doorway.

Spawning Rates and Rules

Now you know the locations of each book, you now need to know the way they spawn and you will need to know these spawn criteria if you want to be able to get them all.

• Each book will ONLY spawn at their specific location.
• When a book spawns, it will stay out until it is read.
• When read, it will de-spawn in 3 minutes.
• That book will re-spawn in 3 to 4 hours.
• When a book spawns, it could also be one of many possible fake books.
• Many of the books spawn when the server resets.
• You have to actually click through to the last page to get credit for “reading” the book

Once you’ve read each book, you will get the achievement. That’s not all, in the mail, you will receive [The Schools of Arcane Magic - Mastery]. This book can only be used in Dalaran, and will allow you to teleport to a secret room in Dalaran where you will find Archmage Vargoth. Turn in your book to him and he will give you a [Kirin Tor Familiar]. You also get to keep your Arcane Magic book and can teleport back to this room at any time. There are no exits to this room, but to leave, simply use the book again to teleport out (Serena!).

It was around 8 in the morning for me, which is around 5am for the server I play on. A guildie asks in guild chat that he was looking for a few more players to raid the Horde Captials. I was only level 74 at the time, but sure what the heck. I joined the raid, and was summoned immediately to Ratchet. It was a full 40 man raid from levels 72 to 80, with a mix of all classes including Death Knights.

Our first target was Cairne Bloodhoof, leader of Thunder Bluff. We mounted up from Ratchet and made our way up the elevators into Thunder Bluff. Making our way through the guards, then eventually to the Carine Bloohoof. A whole bunch of guards spawn as soon as you initiate combat with him, but they were easily AoE’d down. The rest of the fight was a pretty easy. Just stay out of range of his stomps, and stay inside the tent because he does random charges and knockbacks which could knock you off the cliffs. Bleeding Bloodhoof completed.

Our next target was the Warchief himself, Thrall. We made our way out of Thunder Bluff and headed towards Ogrimmar. We went through the side entrance to avoid High Overlord Saurfang, and any Horde hanging around the Auction House area. For this fight, we actually had some Horde interference unlike Thunder Bluff. It didn’t keep us from killing Thrall and Vol’jin. Vol’jin is the Troll Leader, who we didn’t need to kill, but why not? The Horde players who tried to stop us, helped me get the Ogrimmar out of the way for the Wrath of the Alliance achievement. Death to the Warchief! completed.

Next on our list was Lady Sylvanas Windrunner. We ported to Ironforge, and flew to Western Plaguelands. From there we mounted our way through the Undercity main entrance, to the room where Lady Sylvanas is. This fight was a bit annoying because she periodically fears players, and if the Main tank or whoever has aggro manages to fall off the platform, she will evade bug and reset. Though she was the hardest boss to kill out of all of the faction leaders, there were barely any Horde resistance (not enough to get 5 kills), before she was slained. Downing the Dark Lady completed.

Last was Lor’themar Theron in Silvermoon City. We opened portal to Shattrath from Lady Sylvanas Windrunner’s room. Everyone from there took the Ironforge Portal, while the smarter classes (aka Mages) took the Portal to the Isle of Quel’Danas, and flew to Zul’Aman. From there we mounted up and rode into Silvermoon City. This place was almost as deserted as Thunder Bluff. There were quite a few guards we had to AoE down though when we reached the room he was located in. He died fairly quickly with no problems at all. Killed in Quel’Thalas completed.

For The Alliance! completed! I had a lot of fun, even though I was way to low to be doing any sort of damage on the bosses. My combat log consisted of a ton of resists and misses. I was actually hoping to see some more Horde resistance so I could get the Wrath of the Alliance achievement over with also.

Checking my mail box after the achievement, I got a package from King Varian Wrynn. My very own bear mount! Not the Armored Bear Mount or the Amani War Bear that you see hundreds of other players now have. It is the Black War Bear.

Oh yea I forgot to mention this. To anyone trying to attempt killing all the opposing faction leaders, who is also doing the Battle for Undercity questlines: You have to abandon the quest and pick them up later. If you enter the city while you still have the quest, it will phase you out, and you won’t be able to see your raid members.
