I Haz Zhevra Mount!

Yep, I got my very own [Swift Zhevra] Mount to travel around Azeroth, and to scare the crap out of all the Horde that sees me charging into battle in Battlegrounds.

A buddy of mine wanted to roll a character on my server so we could play together. He made a Rogue, and leveled it up to 14 before he didn’t feel like leveling it up anymore. I have pretty much zero alts that could level up with (all my alts are bank alts). So he had no one to level up with, so he was quickly bored.

That was when he brought up the idea of just buying another account, and using the Recruit-a-Friend promotion to get triple experience for him. I told him if he was willing to do that, then the least I could do was pay for his first two months (to get the mount). So he bought a new account, I gave him one of my unused time cards, and created a new character so he could level up with (and get the triple experience).

This picture actually looks pretty creepy…

After a few minutes of waiting, authenticating, and all that good stuff, his account was created. He upgraded his trial account to a full account, and entered in the time card. Once that went through, I found this lovely mount all crated up in my mailbox.

It seems to be that every time I manage to finally free up some precious inventory space, I always find something new to fill it up again. I can’t wait til they make it so that Mounts and Vanity Pets no longer takes up bag space and is instead in your spellbook. That would free up like a bajillion inventory space for me.

Hey, I love that mount and am looking at referring myself for a couple reasons. The cost to me is worth it considering the amount people pay for special mounts on eBay (and to get rid of my stupid epic chicken mount on my belf)….but more importantly I want to quickly level a healer to help my guild out when necessary.

So, couple questions for you knowledgeable folks (I have emailed Blizzard but not sure how quickly they respond or if they will give me proper answers)

1). The FAQ states that triple xp is not rewarded when the mobs are trivial to one of the linked toons. My question is this….what if it is not gray to the linked toons, BUT you have a higher level guildie helping out. Is the xp bonus still negated?

2.) Granting levels – the FAQ states the recruit can only grant levels to linked toons that are not higher level than you. If you have a level 40 recruit and a level 40 referring veteran….can you give those 20 levels to the veteran and make him a 60 or do the rules prohibit you from granting levels that will put a toon above the recruits level?

    Thanks to anyone that helps.

    @ Grainger

Hmm… I will test that out for you whenever I get a chance.

ok….well, I got myself a trial account to test my questions and this is what I have found.

As long as the two “linked” characters are fighting mobs that would normally grant xp or are turning in quests that would no be considered “low level” you will get the triple xp. I had my level 9 Pally and my trial account level 9 Shammy in RFC with a 70 and they were getting 60-70xp per kill. Even better, the quest to kill the guy in RFC rewarded 5250xp at level 9!! (Lvl 9 only requires like 6500 xp in the entire level!)

The second part of the question is a negative. When my Shammy was 8, but my Pally was 7 I had the option to grant him a level. That option was taken away when both were 8. So, you can’t grant levels that will surpass the trial toon’s.

If you are like me and any friends you have that would play a game like this already play, I highly suggest referring yourself (if you can afford of course, don’t do anything silly). The levelling will just really be a joke. The 3x XP on mobs is great, but it’s the 3x quest XP that will really do major damage.

Thanks for the info Grainger! I’ve been too busy lately and had no time to play around with my baby alt.
